- New materials in Animal Crossing New Horizons March Update 

New Horizons Island is the start of a brand new season, winter has finally ended in the northern hemisphere and all the winter materials are no longer in play.

Spring starts on the 25th of February and March introduces young spring bamboo which can be found alongside the normal bamboo materials available all year round, these are found in the bamboo trees and have a drop rate of around 50%, also bringing new seasonal furniture made from bamboo. As follows.

As always, the new month will see the next wave of seasonal events, introducing a variety of exclusive, limited-time items that are usually available for a few days before the next set of animal crossing items appears.

In March there are four seasonal events: 

Hina matsuri: Hina ningyo and blossom lantern items ( start of February - 3 March)

Pi day: Pie Pie (2 weeks from 1 March)

Shamrock day: the shamrock door plate, the shamrock rug, and the shamrock soda items (10 March - 14 March)

April fool's day: the whoopee cushion ( 26 March - April)

All of these seasonal items can be purchased from the nook station during the celebrations, although they are no longer time locked.

The change from winter to spring is a big one, as, after nearly three months of melting snow to reveal beautiful green grass trees and bushes, March is quite important for the spring season in the northern hemisphere, as soon as the snow melts it turns into vibrant spring colors, the end of March meets and the weeds change to look more like spring and start to flower.

Players in the southern hemisphere will see a similar change as summer transitions into autumn and the trees turn more orange.
