Happy New Year! Let's celebrate New Year's coming in Animal Crossing New Horizons by joining the New Year's Eve Countdown event and collecting the New Year 2022 items at the beginning of January!

Animal Crossing New Horizons 2022 New Year Events

One year ends and one begins, as well as in real life, time also passes on the island of Animal Crossing: New Horizons! In order to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new year, from the end of December to mid-January of the new year, activities to celebrate the new year will be held in ACNH.

New Year’s Eve 2022 Countdown Event (Start & End Time)

To welcome the coming of the new year, the annual event - New Year Countdown will hold by Nook Inc. on New Year’s Eve (December 31st) at Resident Services!

In Animal Crossing New Horizons, the New Year’s Eve event of 2022 will begin at 5 a.m. on December 31, and the countdown begins at 11 p.m on December 31, 2021, and then continue until 2 a.m. on January 1, 2022.

New Year’s Day 2022 Event (Start & End Time)

Starting from the first day of 2022 to January 15th, to celebrate the beginning of the new year, special seasonal new year themed food items and furniture are available on Nook Shopping. Actually, starting from December 26th, you are able to buy different food items in Nook Shopping prior to the New Year.

These items can only be obtained during the New Year’s Eve Countdown event on December 31st:

• Light Stick - Get from Isabelle by talking with her during the New Year’s Eve event at any time

• Party Popper - Get a free stack of 5 Party Poppers from Tom Nook by talking with him for the first time, or purchase additional Party Poppers from Tom Nook for 300 Bells/each stack (5Party Poppers) during the New Year’s Eve event

• New Year’s Hat - Buy 8 different color variations (Red, Pink, Orange, Yellow, Green, Light Blue, Blue, Purple) for 500 Bells each from Tom Nook’s stand during the New Year’s Eve event

ACNH New Year 2022 Event Changes & New Items

• 1. More New Year Food Items Added (Even Can Be Cooked) - As you know, in the New Year event we will get many interesting foods and items with different regional characteristics, such as Olivier Salad from Russia, Yut Nori from South Korea and Chinese zodiac dolls. So this year, with the addition of Cooking, we can expect Nintendo to bring more regional New Year special foods and even allow players from different regions to make their own New Year food in their hometown. 

• 2. Zodiac Ox Figurine Instead by Zodiac Tiger Figurine - The zodiac figurine with Chinese characteristics also follows the arrival of the Year of the Tiger. Last year's Zodiac Ox Figurine will be replaced by Zodiac Tiger Figurine.

How Does The New Year Countdown Event Actually Go On: 

1. Starting from 5 am on December 31, for the occasion, the Resident Services will be embellished with balloons and lights and will host a large sign that marks the countdown to the new year! Both Isabelle and Tom Nook will appear outside the Resident Services to provide us with all the special items for the event. 

2. From 11:30 pm, all the villagers will begin to arrive in the Resident Services, dressed in theme with the evening and holding the light stick in their hands. The background songs will change at 11:30 pm, 11:50 pm, 11:55 pm, 11:57 pm and then disappear completely at 11:59 pm to make room for the fires that will start at midnight!

3. At 11:59:50pm, everyone starts screaming number by number and waving their Light Sticks. And the fires begin and a number is created in the sky that represents the new year! During the last seconds, if we are in the Resident Services, the view will automatically move so that we can see the fireworks display well. 

4. The firework show will end at 2 am on January 1, in the meantime, speaking with the villagers, they will send us all the best wishes for the new year and will tell us about their good intentions. In addition, Tom Nook will give us another 5x units of Party Poppers!
