Animal Crossing New Horizons Special Character Breakdown - Harvey for Beginners

Harvey is one of the special characters that you don't use all the time, but he is a nice addition to the comfy atmosphere of Animal Crossing. First introduced to New Leaf as part of the welcome amiibo update, Harvey is pretty new to the series. He ran the campground, which was home to visiting villagers and amiibo characters. He also sold items that could be purchased with meow coupons. A new type of currency to New Leaf that was earned when completing specific missions. Harvey returned to New Horizons with a bit of a different role. He's still the main man for some of the amiibo functionality, but we don't use him as much as we did in New Leaf. 

*Harvey and his photopia

Harvey will appear on your island after you've let your third villager move in. He'll introduce himself and invite you to use his island whenever you feel like it. A little chit-chat with Orville in the airport will get you there in a jiff. Once you arrive you'll find yourself at his cabin or as he likes to call it photopia. Inside is a typical player house, but it's empty. You can decorate these rooms with anything from your furniture catalog and you can place as many of each item as you please. you're not limited to what is currently in your storage or your pockets. You cannot take these items back with you however, the dozens of pillows you throw down stay in this photopia universe. You can also invite your current villagers to model your photos. Drop them anywhere in the room dress them and give them any reaction you please. Scanning amiibo cards is also an option to bring villagers in, but you can only have up to 10 animal villagers in the house at one time. Bringing villagers to Harvey's island will unlock the ability to purchase their poster. This is a large poster that features the same picture as the framed photo that you receive from becoming best friends with the villager. You can also get posters of special characters as long as you have their amiibos to scan. His house was the host of the wedding event last June. This holiday-ish celebration lasted throughout June Reece & Cyrus were renewing their vows and it was up to us to decorate the room to its utmost potential. Doing this earned us heart crystals which could be used to trade for wedding furniture. The better you decorate, the more heart crystals you received. People have done some crazy things with Harvey's island, if you don't know who evil imp is, you are missing out and you should check out the full-blown movies they make all within photopia. There are so many possibilities when you really push the boundaries of a mechanic in this game. It's ridiculous. Harvey could be used for more, he was included in the wedding event, it gave us a reason to go see him and take a few minutes to leave our main islands where we spend 99% of our time. He can be used for more events.

The community wants an excuse to go see one of the most chill dogs in the series. We love his vibe, the happiness that he adds to the atmosphere of the game is phenomenal. It first seemed like his island was going to be some kind of hub to other islands before the game came out, maybe like a huge archipelago of other fun stuff like customer island, but clearly, that wasn't the case and honestly, the dialogue box would have far too many choices. He is a cool dog that people very much enjoy and hope that he continues to be used in the future and not forgotten.
