In Animal Crossing New Horizons, your item colors are related to the Nook Stop and the Airport. What does the color of your airport mean in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and how it affect the Animal Crossing items on your island? The passionate Animal Crossing New Horizons researcher and Nintendo Switch gamer presented his results in a post on Reddit. Under the username PraiseHolo, he published a self-made diagram of the possible color combinations among the specific items in the NookPortal and how these are related to the color of the airport on your island.
If you've been to your friends' islands in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and noticed that their airport roof is a different color than yours, it turns out there's a reason for it: this color in turn determines the color of items available in Nook Stop and in Nook Cranny. The item colors differ on the players' islands, so that a different combination can be found on each island. This seems to have been determined at random, but Nintendo thought something about it and the item colors actually have a reason.
An Animal Crossing New Horizons player found the distribution of the item colors on different islands a bit suspicious, because this player devoted himself to investigating the relationship between the item colors in the Nook Stop and the color of the airport. The results of his small study show something surprising: the colors of very specific items are actually related to the color scheme of your own airport.
For example, you have a blue airport roof, in theory the attraction of the spinning cups will be black, the streetlights green, and the vending machines gray. But the thing does not stay there. Apparently other objects are related to this pattern, so if your lighthouse is blue and white, your pool will have white tiles and your vending machines will be black.
However, there is also a rule here: If an item has a certain color, the other items must be given the specified colors. This creates item color groups that follow a fixed specification among each other, but are selected for you at random as an overall package.

Can you change the color of the airport in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? This question has plagued ACNH players who find that their airport color schemes collide with their island design. So, can it be done? Follow this guide to find out if you can customize the airport color in Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch.
No, the color of the airport in Animal Crossing: New Horizons cannot be changed. There are a total of four different airport colors, which also apply to the DAL plane. What you get is random and the only way to change the color of the airport is to start a completely new save file. Restoring game progress for a different airport color scheme seems drastic, but the option is there if you really feel like you have to.
The airport color appears to be fixed at the start of your game and cannot be changed afterwards. If you are particular about color, it might be a good idea to restart the game a few times to get one to your liking!
Since you can change the color of your home roof, it may be possible that Nintendo will listen to the request for this feature and implement the ability to swap airport colors in a future patch. Until then, if you're not willing to restart the game, try making peace with your current airport color.
