They are useful for making items on the workbench or for harvesting species of fish, bugs, and fossils that you don't have on your island. These islets are the best way to refuel resources in a short time and regardless of whether or not you need to save the resource to prevent it from breaking.

What Items You Can Get From Each Mystery Island?

Mystery islands are full of diverse and varied materials and resources. Whether it's craft materials, fish, bugs, flowers, fruit trees, rocks that give bells... or also the terrifying (but lucrative) island of tarantulas, it's all there! While the islands are randomly generated. To help you to get the most out of each one, here are all the deserted islands you can visit on your tours, their probabilities and what resources each one has.


Animal Crossing: New Horizons Mystery Islands

Normal Island

  • Chance to land: Around 30% or 50%. There are approximately 7 or 10 variants of this type of normal island.

  • Features: It has rivers that require a pole to get around, also elevations, palm trees with coconuts, stones and even some rare fossils.

  • Items to collect: Same kind of fruit/flowers as on your own island and some different kind of fruit (with low odds)


Bamboo Island

  • Chance to land: About 10%.

  • Features: All the trees on this island are made of bamboo

  • Items to collect: Cut bamboo which very useful for making certain items like a magic wand, or use a shovel to remove the bamboo trees and replant them on your own island


Rare Flower Island

  • Chance to land: around 2% (you can only visit this island at most once a day)

  • Features: Island of pink flowers and celestial butterflies, on the island there is also a central lake where koi fishing is possible.

  • Items to collect: unique hybrid flowers and valuable butterflies like the blue Emperor Butterfly (4, 000 bells each)


Tarantula Island

  • Chance to land: around 2% (you can only visit this island at most once per day)

  • Features: An island full of tarantulas to catch. It must be visited between 19:00 and 4:00 in the months of January, February, March, April, November and December

  • Items to collect: Tarantulas (8,000 bells per unit)


Scorpion Island

  • Chance to land: around 2% (you can only visit this island at most once per day)

  • Features: An island full of scorpions (respawn unlimitedly) to catch

  • Items to collect: Scorpions (8,000 bells a piece)


Rare Fish Types Island

  • Chance to land: around 3% (you can only visit this island at most once per day)

  • Features: On this island, you will find all types of fish in the game, including the rarest ones. It will not be very rare to find varieties of sharks and sunfish in it.

  • Items to collect: Rare Fishes such as Oarfish (9,000 Bells each), Hammerhead Shark (8,000 Bells each), Whale Shark (13,000 Bells) and Great White Shark (15,000 Bells)


Bell Rock Island

  • Chance to land: around 1% or less (you can only visit this island at most once per day). It is one of the rarest.

  • Features: There are 2 incredibly lucrative islands where you can farm Bells, what this means is that the rocks on these island types can be mined for Bells rather than rocks, clay, and iron.

  • Items to collect: Bells


Gold Nugget Island

  • Chance to land: around 1% or less (you can only visit this island at most once per day). It is one of the rarest.

  • Features: It is an island with a rectangular pond. From a high cliff that can be climbed with the ladder, it is possible to jump to a small islet in the center and obtain up to 8 gold nuggets from a single rock. Furthermore, this island also contains some flowers and scorpions.

  • Items to collect: Gold Nuggets


Trash Island

  • Chance to land: around 5%.

  • Features: This is the worst desert island that you can touch since in terms of resources it is very poor. 

  • Items to collect: Nothing, all the fish you can catch here will actually be garbage like cans, tires, or boots.


How Do I Get To a Mystery Island?

To be able to enjoy a pristine island and above all mystery, you must have in your possession a Nook Miles Ticket, which you win at the beginning of the game thanks to Tom Nook. Once the ticket is in your pocket, head to the airport at the bottom of the map, on the beach. Chat with Orville in the Dodo, who will be at the ticket office, and use your nook miles ticket to go on an adventure!

  • Save 2,000 Nook Miles

  • Go to the Nook Shop in the Residents' Office

  • Select "Exchange Nook Miles"

  • Buy the Nook Miles Ticket
