Today marks the Hinamatsuri celebrations in japan which is also known as the Girl's Day event in previous versions of Animal Crossing. Today we're recapping everything you need to know about ACNH Hinamatsuri event and items 2022, as well as going over a little history and breaking down some facts about the event.
ACNH Girl's Day Update 2022 - Hinamatsuri Event & Items In Animal Crossing New Horizons
Hinamatsuri is primarily celebrated in japan as these families come together to wish health and happiness to their children. Typically families decorate their homes with dolls representing the wedding of an emperor and empress. Now Hina Matsuri was known as Girl’s Day in previous iterations of Animal Crossing but unfortunately like many other holidays and events they were in fact region locked and couldn't be celebrated outside of Japan.
ACNH Girl's Day Items 2022
Given today is of course Hinamatsuri, it's the final day in Animal Crossing New Horizons to order the Hinaningyo (2,560) and the Blossom Lantern (2,400) which are available exclusively from the nook stop. These are great Animal Crossing items if you're looking to celebrate the event yourself.
ACNH Girl's Day History & Evolution
Girl's Day started in the original Animal Crossing Gamecube. During the Animal Crossing Hinamatsuri update, Tortimer would visit the plaza for the day. When speaking with him, Tasmania would award players with the lovely phone item in honor of the event. The lovely phone item is not only a lucky item but offers a unique psychic service when players interact with it and are much like receiving Katrina's Fortune.
Unfortunately because of the region lock and the fact it wasn't possible to visit international towns at this time Girl's Day wasn't celebrated in the west have the lovely phone item was distributed in international versions of the game on mother's day instead. Like many events, Girl's Day was missing from Wild World, but it did return later to Animal Crossing Let's Go To The City or City Folk as it's known in the u.s. The event itself was much the same as the Gamecube version and Tortimer stop by the town hall this time. When spoken with he would award players with a rice cake item in honor of Girl’s Day.
Furthermore, Nintendo released a DLC item called the Girl's Day wig or Girl’s Day updo using their wig connect 24 services. Plus it seems other items such as the Hinaningyo could be bought from nooks on this day too. Again the rice cake and exclusive DLC were region locked and the event wasn't available outside of Japanese versions of the game.
Moving on New Leaf saw the return of Girl's Day once again. But this time hosted by Isabelle at the plaza like other holidays. Isabelle would place a cutout standee-themed around the event at the plaza. If you spoke with Isabelle during Hinamatsuri, she would award you with a rice cake item which is the same as the ones handed out in Let's Go To The City. Sadly even in New Leaf, these kinds of seasonal events were region-locked, but by this time it was much easier to travel between towns. If players from international versions of the game were able to travel to Japanese towns, they could also celebrate ACNH Girls' Day update and get a rice cake from Isabelle to take home.
This brings us back around to Animal Crossing New Horizons originally Animal Crossing New Horizons was launched and shipped without events like Hinamatsuri. However thanks to the 1.8 update that was released around this time last year. Hinamatsuri was added to the game and of course, saw the return of the exclusive items that are now available from the nook stop. It's worth mentioning these items are no longer time-locked either so can always be obtained by time traveling too.
