Best ACNH Island Theme Ideas - 5-Star Island Designs

A lot of people had already been playing Animal Crossing New Horizons for several months and all those beautiful island tours were already a thing on Youtube and the community had already been built up over on Instagram as well. And coming into that, some people may be confused about all those different themes and cores and all those terms that everybody seemed to use. Here we present some different themes that you can use for your island and we give you a good overview of them and break them down into what they're actually supposed to be and some items and villagers that are perfect for those themes. Faircore, Fantasycore, Kidcore, Cottagecore, as well as islands that are inspired by a specific season. Let’s get straight into these 7 amazing ACNH themed islands!

1. Cottagecore

Cottagecore paved the way for many other themes such as forest, overgrown, and natural amongst others. Cottagecore is extremely broad but typically mixes whimsical natural landscapes with lots of outdoor areas such as cabins, campsites and on this island in particular an amazing looking outdoor pub a game very subjective. But cottagecore often includes dense wild areas, filled with flowers with many dirt paths and both stone and wooden pathways leading around the island to various villager homes. Cottagecore tends to use the landscape to its advantage to create gardens and waterfalls as the backdrop of the island.

2. Fairycore Island

Now, fairycore is probably one of the most popular themes to design your island around and often creates a whimsical mysterious fantasy based atmosphere, very similar to Kidcore. Fairycore makes use of certain colour palettes and flowery custom patterns and pathways. Typically, you'll see lots of flowers, mushrooms, star fragments together with cute and colorful furniture items quite often. Fairycore islands focus around magical areas such as fairy ring, rock gardens and moon crescent landscapes. Just like this island, fairy core themes look even better in the snow.

3. Fantasycore

This one like magical and whimsical items play a big role and things are  focused around magical creatures like dwarve, fairies, trolls and all kinds of enchantments and so on. The key colors for a fantasy theme are a lot more saturated than fairy core. So instead of going for pastel colors and earthy tones, fantasy islands can really involve very saturated red, blue, purple, anything that you can think of that makes it seem like it's not really realistic if you will and so. Some of the key items for this also include all the mushroom items especially also the new Mario mushroom items because they come in quite awesome colors. And for this one you'll also find dollhouses, probably the butterfly models, gnomes and everything else that just looks colorful as well as whimsical as for villagers for a fantasy themed island. There's all kinds of unrealistic things that can be going on the colors are more saturated and just a wider palette than for fairy core.

4. Kidcore

Just like other themes, Kidcore is pretty subjective but is typically an island themed around fun toys, parks and playgrounds and other brightly colored furniture items and features quite often Kidcore islands will also feature pastel coloured pathways, decorated with super cute chalk patterns and drawings. These types of islands often focus around having multiple play areas with outdoor games and activities and this island is an incredible example of that there's no doubt kid court islands are inspired by the original kiddie furniture set too which is super fun to see.

5. Wintercore Island

Using some of the winter themed items such as sleighs and all those festive or frozen items. They're really perfect for those islands and apart from that, keeping it pretty natural, using some rock items and also keeping the flower usage relatively low.

6. Spring Themed Island

Focus on the colors, green and yellow and try to make islands as like happy and as rejuvenating after winter as possible. Lots of times there's a lot of very cutesy items involved and people dress up with the bunny hood or something like that, but everything is pretty much centered around this therefore the focus for all the villagers is also on the color yellow as well as green and all the flower usage is also absolutely centered around that. So it's definitely a possibility to just take specific seasons, pick a few key colors that you'd like to incorporate for those.

7. Desert

One of the most creative island themes especially for a deserted island is a desert. One of the best examples of this is this vast tropical desert that features super hot sunshine and a gorgeous oasis with palm trees, bushes and bright flowers now whilst probably falling under the tropical core category. This desert theme is quite specific as it takes things even further and not only features some classic pyramids but several traveling merchants and rug markets which makes incredible use of custom patterns. Desert-themed islands specifically often incorporate a small residential area for villages with a huge desert around the rest of the island and something. This island does extremely well.

Hope these Animal Crossing New Horizons island themes help you in designing your island or give you some ideas if you're looking for some inspiration.
