ACNH April Data Mine New Discovery - Possible New Villager Items Discovered In New Horizons

5/8/2021 10:14:29 AM

Thanks to the latest April update that came out last week, we have around three months worth of new content bringing Animal Crossing New Horizons up to version 1.10. The latest update focuses around both holiday events and the smaller seasonal events from through to the beginning of August. Some of the holidays added are refreshed events from last year including the month-long wedding season event that sees players celebrating Reese and Cyrus's anniversary and decorating Harvey's cabin. It's pretty cool and brings one of the largest themed sets back to New Horizons for a limited time. Some of these smaller seasonal events include the upcoming summer and winter solstice events depending on which hemisphere in as well as the brand new dragon boat festival and marine day which will both receive exclusive items.

*new keywords for new items

As always thanks to the hard work of data miners, holidays are not the only things revealed from the latest update. So as always please bear in mind from this point forward, we're going to be discussing things uncovered in data mines that may be a bit spoilery. So if you don't want to know the exact details or tend to avoid speculative content, this article may not be for you. Anyway thanks to the hard work of data miners a bunch of new keywords have been uncovered from the recent update revealing what appears to be some new handheld items including things like GlDr, Trwl, and Pitc amongst others. These are of course short strings of text and typically represent items or tools in the game. At this stage, it's anyone's guess as to what these are short for, but some of the popular theories within the community right include coconut drink, glass drink, trowel, dish stack, pitcher, and spanner with some still a complete mystery. Typically items like these are held by characters similar to the books or food items you see villagers holding or even things like kk sliders guitar and labels clipboard. Pretty much any item in the game held by a villager or NPC is represented in this way. So with this in mind, it has led to lots of rumors and speculation surrounding what these new items could be used for or why they were added to the game's code. The most popular suggestion and probably the biggest hope by the community is that Nintendo are preparing to add a cafe or restaurant that will make use of drink items that will be held by villagers.

Of course this is all pure speculation, but if these items turn out to be accurate is a reasonable guess. We have seen this kind of thing before in an update that was released towards the end of last summer, new entries like these added for handheld items that didn't exist yet including things like cooking utensils and cutlery which were then used after an update by villagers during the harvest festival later that year. It's worth mentioning that many of the new keywords added back then still remain unused today, so just because this new batch of potential handheld items have been added now, it doesn't mean they will ever be used. With that said, they might and it's still super fun to speculate what these items could represent and what they could be used for. Plus at the very least is super exciting to know the Animal Crossing developers are still actively working and testing new features. But what do you think about these keywords? Do you have any guesses as to what these stand for? Do you think Nintendo are preparing for something big?

Last, thank all of the data miners for their hard work and members of the Animal Crossing New Horizons discord for sharing their findings and explanations with the community. If you'd like to read more, click the links here
